1900 Eclipse Of Sun!
Monday Afternoon edition of The Albuquerque Daily Citizen, dated 28 May 1900, was reporting "Eclipse of Sun!"
Washington, May 28 (1900) -- The weather bureau reported clear weather for eclipse observations along the entire path of the total strip, forty-miles wide, reaching from Norfolk, Virginia, to New Orleans. Observations of astronomers were highly successful. Nothing could be known of actual results for some time.
At Burnsville, Ga., Griffin, Ga., Pinehurst, N.C., observations were made by naval observatory scientists aided by distinguished specialists; at Siloam, Ga., by a party from Cabot observatory, California, and members of the royal astronomical society, London; at Wadesboro, N.C., by a party from Yerkes observatory, Chicago, and the Smithsonian Institute; at Washington, Ga., by three parties from eastern and western institutions of learning.
