Anna Wallman & Joseph P. Hurt Connection
On the left is another picture of the Joseph P. and Anna (Wallman) HURT children: Edward Joe, Tillie, Emma and Mary Barbara HURT my maternal grandmother. The little girl in front is not identified.). Taken at their homestead in Center, Nebraska.]
I have been searching for more information on the WALLMAN family that supposedly migrated from Czechoslavakia after coming from Russia. I did found where Anna Wallman arrived in New York, New York, on November 14, 1877, at the age of 14. In 1880 US Federal Census, Anna Wallman was 17 years old and lived in Hutchinson, Dakota Territory with her father, mother, five brothers and five sisters.
In the 1900 Federal US Census it shows, Anna Wallman married Joseph P. HURT in 1879. They had seven children in 19 years. In 1900, she was 36 years old and lived in Bishop, Oklahoma with her husband, Joseph, two sons, and 5 daughters.
When Anna WALLMAN was born in January 1863 in Czech Republic, her father, Jacob, was 30 and her mother, Maria, was 22. She married Joseph P. HURT in 1879 in Nebraska. They had eight children in 20 years. She died in 1902 in Major, Oklahoma, at the age of 38, and was buried in Fairview, Oklahoma.
What I am trying to learn is what drove them out of Russia into Cechzoslavakia.
