George Nickel, Former Banker In Alva, Dead
George Nickel, who was president of the First National bank in Alva several years before 1941, died December 2 at his home in Long Beach, California, according to word received in Alva Saturday (December 6, 1941).
Nickel, who built the Nickel mansion on West Locust street hill had been living in California since he and his family left Alva when the First National bank of Alva, closed.
He was survived by his wife, Lena Stine-Nickel; an adopted daughter, Leona; and a niece, Justine, whom the Nickels reared in their home in Alva.
Funeral services for the former Alva banker was held Thursday (December 4, 1941) and burial was made in the Sunnyside Memorial park at Long Beach.
