The OkieLegacy Ezine Endorses Obama & Democrats 2012

You want to know what our President has done? This is important to remind everyone (even the anti-Obama haters) of what our president has accomplished in the last four years with little cooperation from a GOP (T-party) Congress, whose only agenda beginning day one was to destroy Obama and filibuster over 241 Bills, killing most everything put before them that would have helped America's recovery from the Great Depression at a faster rate than it has. This is why President Obama deserves four more years! - What Has Obama Done

As some have reported, "If you're one of those who thinks President Obama is a disappointment, my condolences for you not getting your unicorn. And it's time to grow up, and get over it."

We shall remain standing strong with President Obama, because we know he has America's back as well as our senior citizens, women, students, veterans, disabled citizens, working class and All of Americans (including the 1% and 99%). We believe, as do top economists, that we are on the right path of recovery, and President Obama deserves four more years!

We know how Massachusetts Voters feel about Romney/Ryan as seen in the polls (double-digits behind Obama). From the sources I have researched, Massachusetts does NOT like Romney.

The Romney/Ryan ticket is willing to say whatever was needed to advance their political career. They are the "Etch-a-Sketch" and "Great Flip-Floppers" of all time. Romney/Ryan will say whatever it takes to get elected, and then govern exactly as they please. The following quote was reported in The Boston Magazine, "If Romney didn't see a political advantage in building a relationship, more often than not, he wouldn't." They also reported, "Romney creates a bubble for himself, very similar to the one he has employed while running for president. Out on the trail, he often seems robotic when trying to relate to people, and almost never answers impromptu questions from the press."

As Governor, Romney made such a mess of things in Massachusetts that he does not even try to campaign in the state where he was chief executive just six years ago. From other research we have found, because of his Venture (Vulture) Capitalism, dismantling businesses and shipping jobs overseas; shipping his investments to off-shore bank accounts; and "flip-flopping" on everything. We can not support a Romney/Ryan ticket for president.

On the other hand, our research on Obama and what others have reported, "In reality, Obama's done nearly everything we elect a president to do, and he did it all with massive obstruction from the right."

The president has done this with very little help and cooperation from a GOP Obstructionist Congress! Please pass the following list around to everyone you know in your neighborhood, Facebook, Google+, Email, Twitter and any other online Social media. Every item includes a link to a citation supporting it.

  1. Within his first week, he signed an Executive Order ordering an audit of government contracts, and combating waste and abuse.
  2. Created the post of Chief Performance Officer, whose job it is to make operations more efficient to save the federal government money.
  3. On his first full day, he Froze White House salaries.
  4. He appointed the first Federal Chief Information Officer to oversee federal IT spending.
  5. He committed to phasing out unnecessary and outdated weapons systems. To that end, he also signed the Democratic-sponsored Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act, which attempted to put a stop to waste, fraud and abuse in the defense procurement and contracting system.
  6. Through an executive order, he created the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.
  7. Pushed through and signed the Democratic-sponsored American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, otherwise known as "the stimulus package." The bill passed, even though only three Republicans voted for it. In a major departure from the previous administration, he launched recovery.gov website that allows taxpayers to track spending from the Act.
  8. The Bush-led Great Recession was costing the economy nearly 800,000 jobs per month by the time President Obama took office. But by the end of his first year, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act created and sustained 2.1 million jobs and stimulated the economy by 3.5%.
  9. Not only did he completed the massive TARP financial and banking rescue plan, he also leaned on the banks and others, and recovered virtually all of the bail-out money.
  10. He created the Making Home Affordable home refinancing plan.
  11. Oversaw the creation of more jobs in 2010 alone than Bush did in eight years.
  12. Along with Democrats, and almost no Republicans, implemented an auto industry rescue plan, and saved as many as 1 million jobs. Many are of the opinion that he saved the entire auto industry, and even the economy of the entire Midwest. This resulted in GM returning to its place as the top car company in the world. Willard Romney, on the other hand, advocated for the entire industry to go belly-up.
  13. Doubled funding for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, which is designed to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  14. Signed the Democratic-sponsored Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act giving the federal government more tools to investigate and prosecute fraud in every corner of the financial system, and create a bipartisan Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission to investigate the financial fraud that led to the economic meltdown.
  15. Signed the Democratic-sponsored Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act, which was designed to to protect consumers from unfair and deceptive credit card practices.
  16. Increased infrastructure spending after years of neglect.
  17. Signed the Democratic-sponsored and passed Helping Families Save Their Homes Act, expanding on the Making Home Affordable Program to help millions of Americans avoid preventable foreclosures. The bill also provided $2.2 billion to help combat homelessness, and to stabilize the housing market.
  18. Through the Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009, he and Congressional Democrats provided tax credits to first-time home buyers, which helped the U.S. housing market recovery.
  19. Initiated a $15 billion plan designed to encourage increased lending to small businesses.
  20. Created business.gov, which allows for online collaboration between small businesses and experts remanaging a business. (The program has since merged with SBA.gov.)
  21. Played a lead role in getting the G-20 Summit to commit to a $1.1 trillion deal to combat the global financial crisis.
  22. Took steps to improve minority access to capital.
  23. Signed an Executive Order instructing federal agencies to review all federal regulations and remove any unnecessary and/or burdensome regulations from the books.
  24. Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, saved at least 300,000 education jobs, such as teachers, principals, librarians, and counselors that would have otherwise been lost.
  25. Dismantled the Minerals Management Service, thereby cutting ties between energy companies and the government.
  26. Along with Congressional Democrats, provided funding to states and the Department of Homeland Security to save thousands of police and firefighter jobs from being cut during the recession.
  27. Used recovered TARP money to fund programs at local housing finance agencies in California, Florida, Nevada, Arizona and Michigan.
  28. Crafted an Executive order establishing the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability to assist in financial education for all Americans.
Remembering Obstructionism of GOP T-party Congress

Remember when the GOP T-party filibustered 241+ Bills in Congress? There is a time and place for filibusters if used wisely, but this was not one of those times. Here's a partial list of those bills "Obstructed" by Republicans in 2011-2012 just to refresh your memories:
  1. Spring 2011: Brought Us to Brink of Government Shutdown. The first thing House GOP did was try to use a must-pass funding bill to impose their ideological agenda, including no funding for Planned Parenthood, Title X, and implementing health reform. Due to GOP intransigence, the government came within hours of shutting down.
  2. Summer 2011: Brought Us to Brink of Default. For the first time in U.S. history, the House GOP spent months playing brinkmanship on raising the debt limit - with the final deal signed within hours of default. As a result, for the first time in history, the U.S. credit rating was downgraded by S&P. During those months, job creation nearly came to a halt, consumer confidence plummeted, and economic growth dramatically slowed.
  3. Summer 2011: Threw Construction Workers Out of Work. By adding poison pills to a FAA extension bill, the House GOP's actions led to a 13-day partial FAA shutdown, which halted hundreds of airport construction projects, leading to the furlough of tens of thousands of construction workers.
  4. Fall 2011: Held Up Disaster Relief. The House GOP started claiming emergency disaster relief had to be offset. They held up disaster relief by passing a bill offsetting certain relief with a $1.5 billion cut in the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Program, which would have cost 10,000 good-paying American jobs.
  5. Fall-Winter 2011: For Months Threatened A Middle-Class Payroll Tax Increase. In September, the President proposed an extension of the payroll tax cut. For months, the House GOP then left middle class families uncertain whether their taxes would rise on January 1, refusing to act. On December 13, they passed a bill full of poison pills unacceptable to Senate. On December 20, House GOP irresponsibly left town, refusing to pass a Senate-passed two-month extension, with taxes about to go up. In face of criticism, Speaker Boehner passed Senate bill by UC.
  6. Throughout 2012: Have Blocked Most of American Jobs Act. While a few pieces of American Jobs Act (such as the payroll tax cut extension) have been enacted, the House GOP is still blocking most of the provisions, including new tax cuts for small businesses; getting teachers, police officers and firefighters back on the job; and jumpstarting critical infrastructure projects. These provisions would create more than one million jobs.
  7. March-June 2012: Delayed Bipartisan Transportation Bill for Months, Hurting Economy. More than three months ago, the Senate passed a bipartisan, two-year transportation bill, by a bipartisan vote of 74 to 22. House Republicans wasted 10 weeks trying and failing to pass a partisan bill, and then sent a three-month extension, full of poison pills, to conference. The final conference report this week should have been done months ago.
  8. March-June 2012: Caused Unnecessary Uncertainty for College Students for Months. Democrats have fought to block doubling of student loan rates on July 1 all year. The House GOP budget called for the doubling to proceed. Suddenly, in late April, House Republicans reversed their position and passed a student loan bill but paid for it by eliminating Prevention Fund. The student loan agreement this week should have been done months ago.
  9. April-June 2012: Have Obstructed Bipartisan Senate-Passed Violence Against Women Act Bill. VAWA has always been bipartisan. In April, the Senate passed a bipartisan VAWA reauthorization by vote of 68 to 31. In sharp contrast, the House GOP passed a highly partisan bill, weakening protections. VAWA expires in September.
  10. May-June 2012: Are Holding Middle Class Tax Cuts Hostage to Tax Breaks for Millionaires. Since May, Democrats have been calling for quick action to extend tax cuts for the middle class - giving the middle class the certainty that their taxes won't go up on January 1, 2013. But Republicans are holding middle class tax cuts hostage, insisting they be tied to more tax cuts for millionaires.
This is why The OkieLegacy Ezine is endorsing and has cast its early VOTE For OBAMA/BIDEN & DEMOCRATS 2012!

This NY Times - "Barack Obama for Re-Election" article enthusiastically endorsed President Obama, who has earned a second term. The NY Times also reported that Mitt Romney (Romney/Ryan) offered dangerous ideas, when he offered any. And ... they (NY Times) reported, "President Obama has shown a firm commitment to using government to help foster growth. He has formed sensible budget policies that are not dedicated to protecting the powerful, and has worked to save the social safety net to protect the powerless. Mr. Obama has impressive achievements despite the implacable wall of refusal erected by Congressional Republicans so intent on stopping him that they risked pushing the nation into depression, held its credit rating hostage, and hobbled economic recovery."

Our President has accomplished a lot in the last four years! And . . . the president's accomplishments were done with very little help from an obstructionists in Congress, whose agenda the first day of office was to take down Obama and filibuster over 241 bills that would and could have helped America's economic recovery at a faster rate. Even without their help we have been on the right path, but at a slower rate than what we all wanted for America.

Let us open our minds, Uncover our eyes and ears . . . Be honest with ourselves!   |  View or Add Comments (0 Comments)   |   Receive updates ( subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe
