On hundred years ago today, 3 September 1912, in The Washington herald, Prof. William H. H. Hart spoke before large holiday audience, devoting his address entirely to the subject of labor from a historical, economical and political aspect. Prof. Hart, of the law department of Howard University, said at Glabraith Chapel, before a large audience that of all the various forms of the wealth of the world 98 % of the utility which measures its value for human use is the creation of labor and 2% the gift of nature.
Prof. Hart went on to say, "The improvement of the means of getting a living or industrial progress, or economic progress has two characteristics: One is the division and concentration of labor power, or the economic characteristic; the other is the increase and social diffusion of the political power. The former tends to specialize and limit the laborer's economic function; the latter tends to generalize and extend his social function. Economic well being consists in doing, in producing; social well being consists in having, in enjoying -- that is in consuming."
Prof. Hart also contended back then in his speech that human energy or labor in production to sustain life must be minimized in order that the social progress of the laborer, in enjoying life, maybe e maximized.
Back one hundred years ago the Republican party was named as the true friend of labor by Prof. Hart and he said that under its rule the United States daily becomes more peaceful and more industrial.
This does NOT sound like the Republican party of the 21st century!
Stop the Obstructionism of the GOP Congress! VOTE Democrats!
Good Night & Good Luck!
