1912 - Governor Wilson Accepts Nomination
In The Democratic Banner out of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, 13 August 1912, on page 2, there was the headlines: "Six Thousand persons, two thousand of them being women, listened while Governor Wilson accepted nomination."
Sea Girt, N.J., Aug. 10 1912 -- Six thousand persons, one-third of them women, crowded the lawn of the "Little White House" and listened to Governor Wilson as he delivered his speech of acceptance after Ollie James had formally notified him that he had been chosen as the Democratic candidate for president. Governor Wilson spoke while surrounded by his family, the governors of seven Democratic states, Governor Thomas R. Marshall of Indiana, nominee for the vice presidency, and the members of the notification committee.
