Highland Recorder, 18 March 1910
We find in the The Highland Recorder, dated 18 March 1910, Friday, out of Monterey, Highland County, Virginia, that The History of Pendleton County would be ready in April, 1910 and would have about 450 pages with strong binding, good paper, clear type, map and 12 illustrations. It would also be a limited number of copies.
The book was reported to be a detailed history of the county from the arrival of the first settler to the present time, and also a history of the pioneer families, giving their nationality, place of settlement, date of arrival, and with such facts that were known.
A list of the descendants, generation by generation would also be given. A special chapter takes up the pioneers of the portion of Highland once in Pendleton. The book would have an appendix of varied and interesting information.
