Duchess of Weaselskin
It has been eighteen days since the 30th Summer Olympics began in London 2012. I would like to applaud London and the United Kingdom for sponsoring of the XXX olympics of 2012. Did you get to watch the Sunday finals; the unlighting and passing of the torch? What about the Americans and their showing of 104 medals? Great job, London!
Besides the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, rodeo season is starting in Oklahoma. We learned that this past weekend Waynoka, a farm and ranching community in northwest Oklahoma, celebrated its Cimarron Stampede Rodeo last Thursday through Saturday.
With rodeo time in northwest Oklahoma that means the end of this week the Biggest Little town of Freedom, Oklahoma will be celebrating its annual "Old Cowhand Reunion and Rodeo" starting this Thursday through Saturday. If you go, get a rodeo program and look for our "OkieLegacy Ezine" full page ad with an old time photo of some Alva teachers from around 1907-08 seated on the steps of the two-story school building (West Side School) that stood where the Washington elementary school stands today.
