1912 - Cow Swallowed Box of Jewelry
Have you heard the story about the cow that swallowed box of jewelry in the summer of 1912 from the home of Miss Josephine Schultz. The jewelry was found today in the stomach of the cow butchered at the Adler slaughter house?
As the story was told in the Medford Mail Tribune (Medford, Oregon), 30 July 1912, page 2, Tuesday, three weeks before Miss Josephine Schultz reported her jewelry stolen. It was when they butchered the cow at the Adler slaughter house, they found the jewelry in the cow's stomach. The cow came from a farm eight miles from Joliet and no clue can be found to trace the journey of the jewelry from the Schultz home to the farm. The box contained two brooches, one diamond ring and a gold watch."
