1968 Political Science Forum at NSC
This photo is just one page out of the '68 Ranger yearbook. Let us take you back to 1968, Northwestern State College (now NWOSU), in Alva, Oklahoma, when Dr. Manoucher Vahdat was the political science professor. You do remember Northwestern's Dr. Vahdat, don't you? Maybe some of those listed in the photo might jog some other memories!
The Political Science Forum back then, as it says on the page, "Various significant discussions, most of them open to the public, were sponsored by the Political Science Forum through the year as it furthered its purpose of providing a medium for the consideration of pertinent issues. Membership in the forums were open to all students with interest in political systems and problems at all levels of the government."
The membership in the political Science forum included, Anthony Kotich, Adair Brown, DAvid Dercher, Joseph M. LaPilusa, Barry P. Squitieri, Ardeshir Azodi, Ray Talbott, Rod Avery, Diana Rock, Marcia matkin, Amber McGill, Ivan Orton, Jim Ybarra, Vincent Tagliareni, Larry Long, Rolla Weber, Randy Murrow, Don Garrett, Michael Tretola, Philip Davis with Dr. Vahdat as Sponsor.
The Political Science Forums, like I said earlier, were open to the public. 1968 was another year of political unrest and a time of the Vietnam Ware.
This photo on the left shows one of those open forums on NSC campus in 1968. The caption under the photo reads, "A Political symposium virtually filled the Science Amphitheater as one program sponsored by the Political Science Forum. Representing Democratic viewpoints were Adair Brown, Larry Long and Amber McGill. Dr. Manoucher Vahdat, forum sponsor, was moderator. On the Republican side were Rod Avery, Randy Murrow and Don Garrett."
