Singer Treadle Machine (Red-eye)
I have added another antique as my 2008 christmas present.
It's a 1923-24 Singer Treadle Sewing machine (also known as the "Red-eye" series), Serial number G0268595, in a Singer Cabinet #2, with attachments, no manual, though.
I did a search online looking for information about this latest acquisition. It's in great condition and at the moment it graces my bedroom as a nightstand along with the Damascus Vibrating Shuttle sewing machine that I already had. NOW... I have matching nightstands... kind of!
I have put pictures of the two treadle sewing machines up on my NWOkieLegacy webshots.
Montgomery Ward Co. made this Damascus treadle machine sometime around 1920-22, according to the serial number that I found under the sewing plate. The Damascus company, I am told is out of business, so finding parts won't be that easy.
BUT... the Singer Co., is another story and has lots of informative websites with all sorts of information for dating your particular machine.
