Settlin' In At Snail Speed
Dial-up Internet and moving sucks! AND ... This NW Okie has been on 'braodband withdrawal' for the last week. At least until Saturday afternoon when we got our satellite broadband setup ... AND ... That is crawling along at snail speed this holiday weekend.
Between moving, unpacking and settling in our new abode, we have not been online much this week for researching Oklahoma legacies. This week's newsletter will be a somewhat short and sweet. If the images don't show up, it is because I am experiencing snail speed and have not gotten them uploaded to the site yet.
BUT... we are including the much demanded "Growing Up In Oklahoma" written by Kenneth Updike.
Well! We finally finished packing, loading, moving, unloading and unpacking a few things into our new residence North of Bayfield, Colorado, in the mountain areas of Forest Lakes. This is a complete change from the rural valley area that we moved from. For instance, Bears have been sighted in this area, so you do NOT want to leave garbage setting out overnight.
The photo to the left is a snapshot taken off of our patio, looking up the mountain. The first morning we wokeup around 5:30 a.m. to watch a deer and its young walk across our backyard slope. I have not seen any bears yet, but... I'm keeping alert!
