May, 1949 - Goldbug Press Captures Honor In Press Event...

"Four students from Alva Hi Journalism class returned late Staruday evening, May 7 (1949), from Norman with third place honors won by the Goldbug Press in the Oklahoma Interscholastic Press Association contest. The one-day spring conference consisted of several interesting lectures on how to improve school newspapers and yearbooks. Outstanding speakers of the program were Eugene Dodson, news editor of the Norman Transcript; C. J. Medlin, graduate manager of publications of Kansas State College; and Saul Feldman, member of the Associated Press bureau, Oklahoma City.
