Sale Creek, TN
Did You know... "Sale Creek historian Curtis Coulter tells how the community came by its name: "The name 'Sale Creek' dates back to 1779 when the area was known as Fields Settlement after Richard Fields. It was Indian territory at that time. "A military expedition came down to expel the Chickamauga Indians. They fought a battle near Brainerd, where they retrieved a lot of goods the British had sold to the Indians such as blankets, skillets, rifles and horses. "On the expedition's way back to Knoxville, it stopped at the mouth of the creek in this area and held a sale of those items. From then on, the community and the creek were known as Sale Creek." --
