More HURT Legacy Info
"I have been doing some research with the assistance of Aida Kraus and Lavrentiy Krupniak. The location of the origin in Bohemia for the HURT family is misrepresented. The village is Ujezdec. There are 10 villages by this name so to clarify which village it should be written thus: Village of Ujezdec, County Seat Caslav, Region of Kutna Hora. You can find a map showing all three locations Click Here. It is located SE of Praha (Prague).
I have one copy of the Hurt marriages from Nebraska and will receive the others soon. The surnames on this document are written phonetically not as they would be written in Czech or Polish language. For example: Anton C. Hurt married Cealia Przybyszewska. The marriage record has her name written Shebeska. In the Polish language Shebeska is how you would pronounce her last name. Check it out with a Polish pronunciation guide, I did. I also uploaded a copy of the marriage record to the Bohemia message board at Rootsweb.com if you would like to judge for yourself.
Mary Mrkvicka's surname appears to be Mrhvetska which would be the correct pronunciation of her surname. The first 'k' is almost silent and the r is rolled, the c is sounded as ts.
When I receive the other marriage records I will let you know if the mother's surname is recorded the same way.
Do you have a current email address for Jeanine Baringer? I found her family through the census at Ancestry.com from 1900 - 1920 I also found the death records of Anton and Cealia Hurt plus their sons. I think I found one daugter. I am not sure about the other three girls. Let me know if you wish to add this to your website and I will type it up. Your Cousin." -- Kathleen Louthan Gregory - Email: kate_31758@hotmail.com
