Oklahoma Snow
Our snow is over (here in Perry, Ok.) for the time being and the sun is shining brightly (Dec. 1, 2006). Now where are my sun glasses? I don't like being snow-blind and the sun is shining brightly. That means that all this stuff is going to start melting again just as soon as it warms up a little. The drivers are already driving too fast and there are more vehicles on the streets than there were yesterday. Look out world, here we come again!
Officially, Perry had 9 inches of snow. Braman (due north, near the Kansas border) had 14 inches. And we had drifts because of the high winds. I didn't see any drifts more than about 2 foot but there must have been some thicker. It all started melting today (Dec. 1) and I saw streets almost clear again because the street crews were busy. Interstate highway 44 was closed west of OKC because of numerous wrecks, and then northeast of OKC towards Tulsa was closed overnight because it was impassable. Now it's been closed again because of a refreeze which created a solid sheet of ice for miles. Even the professional semi-truck drivers can't navigate it. Perry's gas prices have remained the same at $2.12.9 since last week." -- Roy
