Oklahoma Gas Prices...
"A gasoline transport truck dumped a new load of fuel into local service stations today and the price actually dropped! It's back down to $2.45.9 at Conoco and Phillips 66 branded stations and 2 cents lower ($2.43.9) at the independents (which sell the same Phillips gas but post no brand name). We're not supposed to know that there's no difference. I know that there IS a difference between the regular, the premium, and the super premium, but there's not more than one model of automobile out of 20 that needs a better fuel than regular unleaded. You're only paying for "prestige", not better mileage or engine protection. However, there can be a difference in mileage (and perhaps "protection") between certain brands. I'm no longer in the business and haven't seen recent comparisons so cannot be certain which brands are best anymore. When I WAS in the business (30 years ago) the top performers in our area were Standard and Phillips, but that probably has changed. Texaco was a close third at that time and Socony/Mobil was very close.
4/8/2006, Saturday -- Four other gas stations raised their prices by 4-cents - (Conoco, Phillips, and 2 independents) to $2.53.9, and I presume that the others did the same. We had a very cool north wind yesterday evening, following some rain that put about .05-inch of water into my rain gauge. I've not heard any 'fire news' since that -- perhaps it has quit again for the time being. I'm certain that our fire-fighters could use some rest."
