1925 Gangsters And Chicago Police Battle, 3 Dead

Illinois - Let us take a look at the "gangsters" of the 1920's. We researched the gangsters in The Hutchinson News, Hutchinson, Kansas, dated 13 June 1925, Saturday, page 1: "Gangsters And Chicago Police Battle, 3 Dead," while two factions shoot it out at close range. Bandits opened fire on officers after their car had been stopped.

Where Darwin Isn't Taught, Planning To "Make A Monkey Out of Bryan" - July 1925

Tennessee - It was in the Times-Leader, WIlkes=Barre, Pennsylvania, dated 10 July 1925, page 18, we found this write-up of the Scopes Trial: "Where Darwin Isn't Taught Planning To Make A Monkey Out of Bryan."

The principal lawyers for the defense of John T. Scopes were shown conferring with Scope. Those involved with the defense were Chicago lawyer, Clarence Darrow, who defended Loeb and leopold; Dudley Field Malone, former collector of the port of New York; Dr. John R. Neal, chief of the defense counsel.

1922 - 150 Labor Men Held In Chicago

Illinois - In the Great Bend Tribune, Great bend, Kansas, dated 13 May 1922, Saturday, page 1, we learn of other gangsters kill two in barber shop. Men armed with Shotguns Killed proprietor and and man being shaved in Italian section of Chicago. The headlines read: "150 Labor Men Held In Chicago."

Easter Sunday, 8 April 2007, we (the pugs and myself) wokeup to a cloudy, raining morning here in southwest Colorado. the green grasses in the yard and pasture are turning green and growing fast. Just waiting around for the last hard freeze so I can plant my garden for summer. ;-)

NY - It was in The Kansas City Kansan, Kansas City, Kansas, dated 8 September 1921, Thursday, page 2, we found this mention of "Warring Gangsters Terrorize New York." The feud started in Tenderloin over bootleg profits dispute and murderof underworld character.
