Inner Balance & Peace of Mind

NW Okie wrote this piece Thursday, August 26, 1999. concerning "Inner Balance & Peace of Mind (A Quiet place to Rejuvenate)." Don't we all need that once in awhile?

"If gravity is the glue that holds the universe together, balance is the key that unlocks its secrets. Balance applies to our body, mind, and emotions, to all levels of our being. It reminds us that anything we do, we can overdo or underdo, and that if the pendulum of our lives or habits swings too far to one side, it will inevitably swing to the other." author unknown.

I've been doing a lot of thought searching lately about how we all seek that balance of mind, body, and emotions. Have you ever looked deep within yourself to that spot that you go to find peace of mind and quiet so you can get balanced to deal with everyday life stresses and emotions?

Don't mind me... Im just off on a spiritual, self-discovery journey again as usual. Every once in awhile I search that spot that helps me set my priorities and gives me peace of mind. I'm wondering. "If every human body yearns for and thrives in a state of inner balance and peace, then where is that place in each of us? Is it the same for each of us?"

What do you do? Where do you go? Where is that place you seek that helps you get balanced? Where your body, mind and emotions are balanced and bring forth an inner peace. A place to reflect, rejuvenate and deal with everyday life.

This is part of the journey I'm on right now. I have lots of ways that I get there. Just one of those places is in the country -- Looking to the sunrise beyond the rolling hills of the fair valleys with their prairie grasses, sage brushes, wild flowers, and listening to the yowling coyotes singing their songs as the sun sets beyond the horizon of Oklahoma and America. It all helps me clear and quiet my mind, body and soul of past emotions so I can let them go and enter my quiet place to think.

I have found that I connect better with the "Wise sage" in me when there isn't outside forces tugging at me and getting me out of balance. Sometimes we need to just get off by ourselves for a little rest, reflection and rejuvenation. I do it best in the country -- Listening, looking and experiencing the wonders of nature and God's creations emerging from the trees to refresh themselves of a drink in Wildcat Creek and graze on the prairie grasses that grow around there.

We each are striving for our own inner balance and peace from within. We get there in our own ways at our own times. Some might meditate. Others might find it through their own religion. It is different for each of us. It is important that we each find our own way and NOT be guided by others. It is also important to respect others' cultures, differences and their spiritual religions. What you give -- You get back in abundance!

If you can remain as calm in the midst of your everday life as the egret who balances on one leg at the waters edge, then you will feel the quiet peace pervade your body and quiet your mind. Go to that quiet place. Listen for those imbalances or ripples in your life. Listen to the Sage within yourself and rejuvenate your mind, body and emotions and find your center balance.

Take a deep beathe (inhale and receive) and then exhale (and give) -- Let go of all those past things that get you off balance. Then watch your heart open up to the inner peace, quiet and compassion of your mind, body and soul. Don't carry around the rocks of past emotions. They will only keep your life off-balance until you learn to let them go. Perhaps what we all need to learn to do is to learn to forgive and get on with our lives. If we can't forgive our enemies, then maybe we can forgive ourselves!

As a wise old sage once said, "Explore the range of human experience always returning to the middle way. Let your actions and words come forth softly, like the changing seasons. From that inner state of balance, you;ll find clarity and peace."
