1956 Reynold Dead In a Burning Car

It was The Kansas City Times, out of Kansas City, Missouri, dated 14 March 1956, Wednesday, page 7, that the following headlines were found concerning the mysterious death of Mildred Anne Reynolds: "Dead In A Burning Car."

Found on Newspapers.com

Married Oklahoma Co-ed, is a Victim Near Alva, Oklahoma

Alva, Ok., March 13 (1956) (AP) - A 21 year old married co[ed from Northwestern State College at Alva was found burned to death in her motor car near here today and officers said circumstances indicated violence.
The Oklahoma highway patrol identified the victim as Mrs. Mildred Anne Reynolds, wife of D. R. Reynolds, a teacher and athletic instructor at Avard high school.

Ed Doctor, Woods County sheriff, said the death "has all the earmarks of foul play" and ordered an investigation.

The sheriff said the woman's car apparently had been forced off the highway by another car. He theorized that she may have been killed, and possibly raped, and left to die in the burning car.
