NW Okie's Journey

How is everyone doing surviving the wintry snow storm of this last weekend? We escaped the snow at Vallecito Lake, 1 March 2014, when we headed towards Houston, Texas via Albuquerque, El Paso and San Antonio, along Interstate 10. We arrived in Houston the afternoon on Monday, 3 March 2014.

The next day Northern Houston got hit with icy, wet, chilly weather, while the Southern parts of Houston area experienced the wet, chilly rain.

On Tuesday afternoon we checked in with our Plastic surgeon for Pre-op and registration for early morning surgery on 11 March, for reconstruction, implant of right breast and mastopexy of left breast on an outpatient basis.

As I do my research on mastopexy, the surgeon will remove extra skin and lift the left breast tissue up into the proper location, and as for the implant, the surgeon will take out the expander and insert the silicone implant, closing and bandaging the breast.

My research says that the size, shape of breasts will continue to improve as time passes. And I need to be careful to avoid any impact to my chest, which could make the implant rupture. The breast lift recovery period will mean no heavy lifting for at least 4 to 6 weeks afterwards.

The following link shows silicone and saline implants information I have found: Breast Augmentation, Lift. Research shows that silicone and silicone shells have come along way from the first implants in the 70's and 80's. Silicone is more natural looking than saline, also. The silicone is more of a gel than the liquid silicone that they used to use way back in the 70's & 80's. And the Silicone shells they are using now are stronger.

Research shows that if the breast lift is performed in conjunction with breast implant placement, the recovery time is similar to a breast augmentation (about 1 and half to 2 weeks). Most patients wear a special support bra for 3 weeks after surgery, with no exercising for three weeks after surgery.

Thanks for the Affordable Care Act and my UnitedHealthcare Supplemental.
