NW Okie's Corner

Sometimes unexpected things happen to distract us from our dreams while we are awake and soundly asleep. It tends to get us off track once in awhile. That happened to this NW Okie a couple of weeks ago when she was rushed to ER in Durango, Colorado.

Thank Goodness for "Obamacare" and "Medicare!" Otherwise I could not afford to see a doctor, visit a hospital and/or get treatment. Thanks, Mr. President, Democrats and all those who worked hard for implementing "Obamacare" and "Medicare!"

You might have noticed that last Monday evening there was NO "OkieLegacy Ezine" newsletter in the mail. That was due to a medical scare that had this NW Okie in a state of anxiety and worry. Final diagnosis: Ovarian cyst and gall stones.

The dull pain started in the middle of the night in lower extremity of my body. At some point it felt like constipation, but similar to the feeling of kidney stones. Sipping hot, weak green tea did not seem to subside the feeling of discomfort rolling through my body. I was unable to relax. Anxiety set-in; blood pressure rose! I was feeling clammy, light-headed and sick to stomach, throwing up a yellow liquid.

David rushed me to the ER in Durango, Colorado and I was feeling the pain, anxiety and resembling a paleness in the face of a ghost. After spending the whole day in the triage part of ER at Mercy Regional Hospital of Durango, and undergoing ultrasounds, cat scans, and other tests, the conclusions pointed to a 10cm cyst entwined with the left ovary, and also, gall stones.

Have you had a "CA-125" test to check for cancerous cells? I did! The Doc was 95% sure that the cyst is benign. But with the age factor (65) I need surgery to remove this cyst (and possibly, the ovaries it is entwined. And . . . the gall bladder to be removed at some point later on.

We have a consultation and surgery set for the 12th and 13th of August (2013), in Denver, Colorado, to get this taken care of so we can find out our next step to better health. Thank Goodness for "Obamacare" & "Medicare!"

Without it I would not be able to get some much needed medical care and surgeries.
