115 Pilots Fly Over Himalayas (WWII)

Did any of your fathers, brothers, friends, family members tell you any stories about the "Hump" during World War II?

Karel shared this 1980's news article concerning the World War II "Hump" Pilots posing in front of Peking's forbidden city, during a reunion return to the city. The former pilots flew war supplies from Burma over the Himalayas during WWII. [Click on the article to view a larger version.]

Karel also mentioned that her dad flew the "Hump" during WWII. His last name was NICOLA and he was born and raised in Alva. He was only about 23 years old when he was flying the China-India-Burma theatre (The Hump). When you read what a treacherous place that was, it boggles the mind!   |  View or Add Comments (0 Comments)   |   Receive updates ( subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe
