Mary Jane (Loveday) McGill's Homicide - 1920

The image on the left shows a Certificate of Death - Place of death, Knoxville, Knox, TN; Mary (Loveday) McGill, died 16 June 1920 from a pistol shot, at home at the age of 50 years. Mary was the daughter of George Loveday (TN) and Elizabeth Helton (TN). Who shot Mary Jane Loveday McGill?

Tam (Tamlog@aol.com) is researching Sevier County, TN relatives and came across the following information for Elijah McGill.

Tam says, "Elijah McGill was the second husband of Mary Jane Loveday, who first married Laban Latham. Laban Latham was a White Cap and he was killed during the battle of Henderson Springs in Sevier County in November 1894.

"On 1-13-1897 Mary Jane (Loveday) Latham marries Elijah McGill. They are found on the 1910 census with several children. Then on June 16, 1920, Mary Jane McGill, dies from a pistol shot, listed as homicide on her death certificate. Elijah (her husband) was the informant. Do you know of a connection to the McGill's in your line? Do you (anyone) know of any of the particulars surrounding this incident?"   |  View or Add Comments (0 Comments)   |   Receive updates ( subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe
