NW Okie's Journey

While in the Houston, Texas area, we did make a one day visit to the beaches at Galveston. The image on the left is a view of the Galveston beach with visitors enjoying the beach along with the surfers. We got back to Durango and surrounding areas of southwest Colorado, the afternoon of Saturday, 18 January 2014. Sadie and Ruff greeting us after we drove into the driveway at Vallecito.

As to NW Okie's medical updates, I found out the results of the Oncotype DX test on the cancer cells taken from my right breast. It was in the intermediate range, which I am told would not need chemo therapy. So I am cheerfully continuing with the hormone and bone density medications, and scheduling followups with local doctors in the Durango, Colorado area.

In two months, though, I head back to Houston for reconstruction surgery and the permanent implant in right breast and reconstruction surgery on left breast to get things equalized (matched) . . . so to speak. All done as an outpatient surgery.

This time, while back in Durango, I will be scheduling some post-mastectomy physical therapy for shoulder issues concerning my right arm and getting its mobility, movement back on track. Other than that, this lopsided NW Okie is doing great, surviving breast cancer.
