Thanks For the Memories

We have received some interesting memories of growing up in Oklahoma this week. As you read through the Mailbag section, you will find a sample of a five hour Eighth Grade Exam that students took in 1895. Is it for real?

SW Colorado Mountain Snow Slide... We heard from the mountain folks last weekend concerning the snow that had built upon their roof this Winter. It seems the snow finally fill off the north roof of the rec room and slid en masse down to the wood room roof and hung there forever, blocking out the light and the view, until it finally slid enough to break off, making a hell of a racket but finally letting in light and giving a view out the north window of the rec room.

Sunset? Forest Fire? Wolf Creek, CO... Another SW Colorado Lady caught this snapshot of a sunset over Wolf Creek Pass that looked an awfully lot like a forest fire.

Oklahoma's Winter Storm Warning... If you were in Oklahoma this week, especially southern Oklahoma, you might have experienced a late Winter Storm of 3 to 4 inches or more of snow gathering on the ground. BUT... Alas! It didn't last long!

This last week, especially, Wednesday and Thursday, March 5 & 6, 2008, reminded Oklahoman's that Winter weather was still out there. This was one of the many winter weather message from the National weather service, in Norman, OK, 11:53 a.m. CST.

We hear that around Denton or Dallas, Texas got up to 9 inches of snow. You call that snow! How did it affect your neck of the woods in Oklahoma this last week?

Rock Cairn's of Oklahoma... Check out the Mailbag section for memories of the Rock Cairn west of Alva, Oklahoma that once stood to mark a spring nearby. Has anyone out there heard of a "Rock Cairn" called "Indian water sign" because of a good spring nearby?
