Hank Noah made a business trip to Kiowa.

Dr. Gillespie & Edwards, Dentists, office over Noble's Hardware Store.

Geo. W. Beckoven of Aline, is in the city visiting relatives.

H. M. Souderup has closed his saloon on account of unprofitable business.

H. K. Bickford came in on the noon train, to look after some business matters.

Miss Madge Shaefer, who has been here visiting friends several days, went to Wichita.

R. W. Noel of Middlegrove, Mo., is in the city visiting his sons, Arthur and Emmett.

Wanted, fat hogs, at Schnitzer's meat market, north side square, Alva.

G. K. Kerr of Freedom, was in the city marketing a load of wheat and buying ranch supplies.

Mrs. Marshall, Sr., and Mrs. C. B. Share went to Blackwell to attend the annual M. E. conference.

J. C. Riley and wife of Freedom, Woodward county, were in the city trading with our merchants.

Grandpa Severe, who lives 10 miles southwest of town, returned from a visit with relatives in Kansas.

J. D. Share came down from Wellington to visit his son and brothers, and attend to some business affairs.

Mrs. H. A. White has returned home from spending the summer with her sons, Harry and Frank, at Omaha, Neb.

Miss Anna Rauh, sevene miles east of the city has gone to Higginsville, Mo., to spend the fall with relatives and friends.

John Meixuer of Carmen, was in the icty a few hours visiting his brothers, George and Adolph, and attending to some business.

Mrs. W. L. Bragg, of Medicine Lodge, who has been here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elias Gibbs, returned home.

E. Rall made a business trip to Woodward.

F. H. Meyer returned froma business trip to Waynoka.

J. D. Hunter returned from a business trip in Kansas.

John M. Rowell of Farry, was in the city buying supplies.

The good old summer time hangs on like a deserted lover's grief.

F. B. Boorn and wife are visiting in Kansas City and St. Joe, Mo.

Dr. Palmer and wife, of Dacoma, were in the city visiting her parents.

Harry Leslie was up from Carmen a few hours looking after some business.

D. C. Wilhite and wife went to Pond Creek yesterday to visit their daughter.

Henry Nicola accompanied his daughter to her home in Woodward county.

Editor c. E. Wilson and Lon Sills, of Cherokee, were transacting business in the city.

Mrs. H. E. Noble accompanied Miss Abercrombie to Woodward, to attend a meeting of the eastern Star lodge at that place.

E. B. Griffith and family, who have been visiting at their old home in Ohio for several weeks past, arrived home last night.

W. J. Kinney, 9 miles west of the city, returned from visiting his son Dave near Quinlan, and other relatives at Augusta.

O. E. Brewer of Helena, stopped over night in the city, on his way home from a months visit at Portland and other places in the far northwest.

Attorney W. S. Roberts returned last night froma visit with relatives and friends at his old home, Madison, Ind. He says he had a very enjoyable time, and everything is flourishing.

Thomas Krantz and brother, from Laporte, Iowa, arrived in the city last night and will spend several days looking over the county. Thomas owns a good farm a few miles south of Alva.

Miss Ella Dillman of Joplin, Mo., who has been visiting for two weeks with her sister, Mrs. B. M. STewart, returned home. She reports a very pleasant visit and was delighted with the city.

Mrs. A. A. Hughes returned home from a two months visit with her parents at Lamar, Colo., and Al has suddenly lost that hopeless and sad countenance that he has been wearing.

C. W. Johnson, who has been conducting the East Side grocery for a year past, has rented the building vacated by Carmichael's shoe store, and moved his store therein. He invites all his old customers to call at his new stand. South side square.

Thomas Krantz and brother, who have been here from Laport, Ia., for several days, Thomas looking after his fine farm while his brother was looking over the country with the view of buying, returned home.

H. Milton Colvin returned this morning from his farm near Estelle, where he has been for some time past; and he brought up a stalk of corn 23 feet high, from the farm of Jim Wilson, adjoing Colvin's farm. Milton says the seven ears that were on this stalk were all brought down with a gun.

Henry Waldrich who has been visiting his brother J. C., of Dacoma, left for his home in Washington, Ia. This is not Mr. Waldrich's first trip to Oklahoma and he likes the country very much; he is an old time friend of G. A. Harbaugh who he also had a pleasant visit with during his stay here. He is a jolly good fellow and Woods county is the place for him to locate.

Wreck On the Santa Fe -- The passenger train fromt he east due at Alva at 11:37 last night, was wrecked 14 miles northeast of Alva, on account of the rail spreading. The engine, baggage car and two coaches went off the track and the baggage car rolled over on its side, but fortunately all the passengers escaped unhurt excepting a few bruises. Dr. A. W. Clarke and wife were on the trains returning from atrip to Arkansas, and went to Capron station and called up W. B. Wimer, who hitched up and brought them to Alva, arriving about 7 a.m. Judge H. M Bickel and son Travis were on the sleeper returning from Wichita, and the judge is seriously ill. A track was built around the wreck...."
