NW Okie's Journey

My mother and father are from Barnsdall, Oklahoma. I own an 1881 Smith and Wesson break-top .44 that family history says was owned by a relative who was killed robbing a bank with the same gun. Family lore goes on to say that he was a member of the Starr Gang that worked in the NW Oklahoma area. A by-stander took the gun from the body of our relative after the shoot out and another relative later traded a wood burning stove to get the gun back. The gun then hung on a nail over the back door of the family home in Barnsdall for many years. During WWII, Grandma reportedly used the gun to shoot a thief who was causing trouble at the house while grandpa was away working the graveyard shift at the refinery in town. The problem I'm having is I don't have the name of the relative involved and can't find much about the Starr gang and their activities to try and learn more about who of their gang was killed during any robberies. If anyone has any detailed information about them, I would enjoy hearing from you. Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place! Thanks.
