CommentsVolume 14, Issue 8 - Feature #6389On This Day In History (20 February) Howdy Okies, Fifty years ago Yours Truly did something that didn't gain Heroism for him. I was in Navigator Training Class 62-18 at James Connelly AFB, Waco, TX. We went on a Cross-Country to McCoy AFB, Orlando, FL, to stage out to Bermuda, RON, and Return. After we got to McCoy, we were told we could not complete the mission as planned, but would instead Round Robin west out into the Gulf of Mexico and then return to Waco. The reason? John Glenn was to return for a splash-down that particular day and they didn't want us in the area---I suppose we might get in the way of the rescue mission to recover him from the Atlantic. So, another missed opportunity for greatness. :-)) Jim Bradley Jim Bradley - 2012-02-21 10:11:31 Please submit your own comments below.
