The question of the ecological impact of rattlesnake hunting was put to rest for me by Lyle Lovett. He was a guest on the Tonight Show, and was asked about his boots. Lovett replied that they were snake skin. The host asked if this brought him grief from the Sierra club, PITA, or other groups. His all time great line was "Snakes ain't got a big lobby".
