CommentsVolume 12, Issue 23 - Feature #5557My Thoughts - Homemade Mosquito Replent We know that the Catnip plant is related to the Mint family of plants. I went by my garden center here in Bayfield today looking for catnip, but they had sold out. Also, we know that it is the female mosquito that bites, sucks your blood and leaves the little, itchy, welty-like bumps. The male mosquito just frequents the flowers. Mosquitoes are attracted the carbon dioxide that your body lets off. Linda McGill Wagner - 2010-06-07 22:38:03 Mosquito's follow your breath exhalations, so they can "track" you in the dark. On the other hand you may be able to confuse them with a handful of Mint plant rubbed "briskly" on your exposed skin. You need to get the oils on it. Catnip may work as well, Fleas don't care for it.
