Benjamin Shaw was the son of Benjamin Shaw, one of the first 48 men to settle the state of Ohio. The younger Ben was born in MA, as was his father, and came to Ohio as a young child after his father returned to MA to get his wife and child and bring them back to the fort near Marietta, Ohio. The elder Benjamin is know as one of the "FIrst 48" as they are called in Ohio and their story is easily found online. The younger Benjamin grew up in Ohio, but was not born there.
