Old Cast Iron Toys Found at Moving Sale

Usually, reproductions are not quite as 'smooth' (polished)because modern folks don't take the care to make the molds perfect and don't take extra care to finish them properly. Also the 'seams' from the mold are more prominent usually, and the paint is frequently thinner (sprayed on sometimes instead of dipped, plus the brushed on parts can be 'rough'. It's very hard to tell sometimes but I have catalogs of many 'copies' in my files.

Some of these seem to be copies of the originals (I have been fooled in the past) but at that price they should still be a bargain. Even the reproductions sell to dealers for about $5 each (or more) to be resold at flea markets, etc. Congratulations on your purchase.
