I'm writing this on my daughter's MAC, while visiting her in Salt Lake City. we used a time share exchange to stay in Park city, former site of the winterc Olympics...as far as mountains, ect., not too shabby here either. It is a bit too up scale, and yuppified to suit me. However, I've reached a point in life that I don't slog up the hiking trails anymore. I'll take SW colorado any time. More importantly, we are getting to visit our six month old red headed grand daughter for the first time. I'll take that over SW colorado...even!

Charlie, wait tell you see the other mountain peaks up around Vallecito on a cloudy, cool day where the clouds hang down below the mountain and frame the snowy peaks. That fire you spoke about was in 2002. We are just now seeing the little aspen coming back with the scrub oaks. The scrub oaks Fall red colors were fantastic this year that seemed to turn the mountains red with a splash of aspen golds. The oaks have peaked since a few days ago, though and the aspen are finishing up.

I remember seeing that exact same view during my several camper vacations spent in the campground at the end of that road. I was dismayed when learning, in more recent times, that fires had occured in that area. I've visited nearly all of the states and that area ranks at or near to the top of my WoW list. Charles M.
