Icicles To Historical Events

The 'hype' as some call it seems to have gotten more people involved in their community and their government. Is it a bad thing? People become involved when they believe that they can make a difference. I lived in DC for five years. I have not seen a crowd like this except on New Year's and Fourth of July. Why should Americans not celebrate an effective change of leadership in a democracy (or republic)? Even if you do not agree with the leadership in power, YOU can still change the world and continue to make it better. Volunteer! Join AmeriCorps! Get involved with your city council!

Well, by the time the Pres-Elect gets "crowned" I will have heard so much about it that I am having a hard time being civil about it!!. So, we changed Presidents. It happens frequently and we don't have a civil uprising over it. And all the hype is uncalled for! I am retired USAF and do not see the "big deal" in this. Yes, he is the first black, but that doesn't qualify him for all the hype. I just hope that his administration doesn't destroy the military, both moral wise and resource wise. I certainly wish the Pres-Elect the best in trying to turn things around economically. Of course, it still takes the House and Senate to agree with Administration to get things approved and enacted.
