CommentsVolume 8, Issue 2 - Feature #1147NWOSU's Oklahoma Hall Being Demolished... Having been a grade school student at Horace Mann Elementary on the college campus, I can remember the area before the dorm was built. It was the site of the campus tennis courts. Every spring, on the last day of school, we would have a picnic and games on the tennis courts. At that time, the only two dorms on campus were Shockley and Vincent Halls. The dorms on the southwest side of the campus occupy what used to be the baseball field and an overgrown vacant lot in which we used to play. Horace Mann also housed Alva Junior High on the second floor until the new high school was built. Worked it until I left to go on harvest (pay was a lot better!). Bev - 2006-01-14 22:25:00 Oh my, that picture takes me back to 1967 when I was attending school there. This was a woman's dorm and a girl that I dated lived there. She was quite short and one of my memories is of giving her a kiss while she was a step higher than I was. Thanks for the memories. The last word I heard was that it will become a "green space" until plans for its use are confirmed. Rod Murrow - 2006-01-14 18:02:45 Please submit your own comments below.
