Sketches of John Jacob & Mary Jane (VANCE) WARWICK

Shirley, Sorry. I just saw this. Yes, my father-in-law is John Henry Hankins and his brother is the late, James Warwick Hankins. We are still actively restoring the house on the hill in Clover Lick. It's quite a process, slowed down by kids and activities, but still plugging along. Feel free to reconnect with me through my email. Thank you, Michele

Karen, I tried to email you at the email you gave here, but it bounced back. My sister and I are interested in a "UNION" of the descendants to be held in Augusta County, Virginia in June 2014 to clear up some questions and fit some of the puzzle pieces together for my Warwick ancestors. I will ask in my next OkieLegacy newsletter to see if any other Warwick descendants would be interested, also. I also tried attaching a copy of the John & Mary Warwick photos to the email. -- Linda McGill Wagner, PO Box 619, Bayfield, CO 81122

There are quite a few people I see that are from the Warwick line from Augusta County. I am the William Warwick to James Warwick line. Looking for interest from any descendants of Augusta County Virginia that might be interested in a "UNION" of the descendants to be held in Augusta County Virginia in June 2014. Email if you are interested. Time to meet, share, gather,et. email at warwicksofvirginia@gmail.com . would love acopy of these pictures if there was any way to get them.

Dear Michele, Are you related to John Henry Hankins of Huntington or James Warwick Hankins, Ruby Face, Georgia? Those are two addresses I have in my address book ( some pages at the back that are devoted to collateral kin). I spent an afternoon at Clover Lick years ago, (BC as in before children). There was a neat house up on a hill that intrigued me because it was on such a hillside that they buried Mary Vance Warwick. Is that the house you are restoring? I am sure I can get a good copy of the pen and ink drawings and will send to you. John Woods Warwick is my 2 great grandfather and I am descended from him and his second wife, Caroline E. Craig. I named my daughter after her. She was from Huntersville. I knew about Sally Gatewood and have a friend from school who is related to her. I never knew that she died in childbirth. "Crickett"

That would be great if you could locate a copy. My husband and I are very interested in getting the family history correct. What was so strange is we recently went to NY and had portraits done in Central Park and although the drawing of my son looks little to nothing like him, it looks EXACTLY like the portrait done of Jacob Warwick that I viewed online and printed a thumbnail of. Pretty funny. Let me know if you find it. Hannah? There was a Hannah Gatewood that died during childbirth. She was married to John Woods Warwick. Her only child, Sally, lived and went on to have eight daughters and a son who grew up in the house we are restoring. John and Hannah were the last with the name of Warwick to live in the house. Thank you so much.

We also have a copy of the portrait likenesses that the lady from California shared with you. My Mother remembered the original pen and ink drawings being given as a parting gift to, I believe a Mary Moore Hanna or maybe it was Carrie Moore Hanna. She was the Warwick descendant. Her husband was Rev. Hanna and was taking a church(Presbyterian?) out west ( Arizona or New Mexico) and I guess this was a way of letting them take their heritage with them. Several copies were made and kept by descendants at that time, which is why I have my copy. I can find details if you are interested. A file cabinet is bulging. Lately, I have wondered if the portraits might really be of Andrew Sitlington Warwick and his wife. He was the grandson of Jacob. But the fact that they have been so long ago identified as Jacob and Mary make me wonder if that might really be true. I have often wondered what happened to the originals. It was very interesting to read what was written on the reverse because my copy does not record all of that information. Shirley Morris Ricmond, Virgina

I just found this site. My husband and I would very much be interested in these sketches. We have actually inherited the property belonging to Jacob Warwick in WV and he is a direct descendant. We are currently refurbishing the house, (the third on this foundation, others being burned by Indians.) Please contact us if you would like any further information.

I am also descended from Jacob Warick and Mary Vance through their daughter Rachael Primrose Warwick m Charles Cameron. I have a lot of very old portraits of this line with no names. I would love to correspond with somebody on this family.

Hello, I am so excited to see these sketches of Jacob and Mary Jane Vance. I am a direct descendant of Colonel John P. Vance of North Carolina. Is there any way of finding out if they are still for sale? Is there a way for me to have a better view of them?
