The introduction to the book "Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee" tells how the author intended to tell the story of "civilization" not from the point of view of those in the east,looking west, but from the viewpoint of those in the west, looking toward the east, seeing this advancing hoard coming toward them, destroying everything in it path. White people did not bring "civilization"; they brought disease, deception, thievery, and murder, and called it good.
