Volume 11, Issue 11 - Feature #4223

Fairmont, Marion County, WV

Would love to see some of other Isreal Formane studio pictures in Fairmont WV. Wondering if my paternal ancestry might have moved from virginia to the northern west virginia area around Fairmount.

The Barnes Family still resides in in Harrison and Marion Counties, but it appears that everyone but us, has forgotten we were here first :),... Our family is not mentioned in either the Harrison County history, Marion County history, The City of Clarksburg history, or The City of Fairmont history, but it's all there in our family documents, check out the link in sent in the previous message.

I am a direct descendant of William S. Barnes br. 1735 and Mary Marietta br. 1740 who were the first settlers in what is current day Marion County, WV., and proudly bare the Barnes last name today. The town of Fairmont, WV is built directly on top of what used to be William Barnes' Mill and Farm. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jhwilcox/people/JohnWilcox/famf00032.html The aforementioned John S. Barnes is a direct descendant of William S. Barnes, and I am a direct desendant of John S. Barnes.
