Houston, TX - For 30 seconds or so Saturday morning, 11:07 a.m., Northwest Oklahoma was shaken again with another earthquake. This time it measured 5.1 on the rector scale at a shallow depth, about 17 miles northwest of Fairview, Oklahoma (near the Lone Mountain hazardous waste landfall).

B. S. Barnes Hears From Senators (1904)

Ponca City, OT - It was in 1904, Sunday, 2 October, The Wichita Daily Eagle, out of Wichita, Kansas, page 10, headlines read: "Hears From Senators." Mr. B. S. Barnes of Ponca City, O.T., had written to and received replies from all the US Senators in regards to the position of the two political parties in reference in statehood for Oklahoma and Indian territory. Should the new state be two states or united into one state?

It makes you wonder "what if," doesn't it? What if there had been two states added (Oklahoma and Indian Territory) to the Union? What would it look like today in the 21st Century?

1929 Desperado Had Posed As Quiet Citizen of Town

According to The Ada Weekly News (Ada, Oklahoma), dated 18 December 1929, Wednesday, page 5, we found this mention of "Desperado Had Posed As Quiet Citizen of Town." He killed policeman when held for questioning about accident, and bank loot discovered. He was believed by Chicago police implicated in the st. Valentine Massacre.

St. Valentines Day (1909)

Cupid reigns very day, but on St. Valentine's Day he reigns supreme. Of all the holidays in the year, the 14th of February is the only one set apart on which to make obeisance to the mischievous, adorable little son of Venus. The Morning Examiner, Ogden, Utah, 14 February 1909, Sunday, page 13, is where this story of "St. Valentine's Day" was printed.

It was in The Evening Standard (Uniontown, Pennsylvania), dated 15 February 1929, Friday, front page headlines read: "Gangland War In Chicago." The St. Valentine's Massacre drove rival bands into hiding for final battle.

1931 Capture of Gangster of St. Valentine Massacre (1929)

St. Joseph, MO - The Post-Crescent, Appleton, Wisconsin, 26 March 1931, Thursday, page 1, headline: "Hold Man As Burke, Slayer-Bandit, Raid missouri Farmhouse to Seize suspect." Gangster sought in St. valentine massacre, Jefferson Bank holdup. And other murders and robberies laid to notorious Chicago character.
