NW Okie's Journey

Bayfield, CO - We went to some garage sales this last Saturday and found a pictorial history book, "Adventures In America," with text by John A. Kouwenhoven, published in 1938. That got me back researching my Kouwenhoven family connections on my mother's (Vada Paris) side of the family. We believe the "A" in John A. Kouwenhoven stands for "Atlee." J. A. Kouwenhoven Obituary, died at age 80.

The photo with the news article showed a photograph of the "Old Kouwenhoven Mansion" on Kings Highway. The plot on which family mansion stood was part of the tract bought soon after ancestor came here in 1630.

1928 - William Williamson Kouwenhoven (1846-1928)

NY - It was in The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, Brooklyn, New York, dated 25 June 1928, Monday, page 10, we found the funeral service for W. W. Kouwenhoven, who died Thursday, 24 June 1928, after an illness of a week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Addison B. Hall, 495 8th Ave., and his funeral held the next day afternoon at the home of his niece, Mrs. Mary K. Ditmas of 2220 Ditmas Ave.

I have found where William Williamson Kouwenhoven's father was Cornelius B. Kouwenhoven, and William and his wife had a son named Cornelius B. Kouwenhoven.
