NW Okie's Journey

I have been spending my early morning hours walking two an a quarter mile up here in the southwest corner of the Colorado Rockies, in the mountains where you find Vallecito Camp ground. Trying to get in my exercise for these old bones and joints. The image on the left is a digital picture of a view of the Vallecito River that runs along side of the camp ground.

Walking With Sadie

Our afternoon monsoons are continuing here in the southwest corner of the Colorado Rockies. And it has been in the mid 70s today.

NW Okie tries to get her 2.33 miles walked in the early, cool mornings around the Vallecito camp ground at the north end of the Vallecito Reservoir, North of Bayfield and Northeast of Durango, Colorado.

Meanwhile, below is a short video NW Okie recorder on one of those walks, catching a view of the Vallecito River that runs along side of the east side of the camp grounds.

100 Years Ago - 12 August 1914

One hundred years ago today, 12 August 1914, Wednesday, The Washington Herald front page headlines were: Kaiser's Campaign On France Gains Chief Laurels In Checking the Alsatian Invasion At Muelhausen. Allies were concentrating to check German advance that was threatening Brussels. There was a brilliant French victory to halt Kaiser's army at Spencourt . . . bombardment of Liege continued. They were expecting battle within 24 hours.
