I am still in the screening process of my breast cancer, as I continue my research concerning breast cancer and options available. I was scheduled for a breast MRI this morning, but had to reschedule it for this coming Friday morning.

Healthcare Through The Ages

Over a hundred years ago there has been a push for increased government involvement in health care in the United States. It dates back to 1912, when presidential candidate Theodore Roosevelt, campaigning on the Progressive Party ticket, called for the establishment of a national health insurance system modeled on what already had been established in Germany.

One Hundred Years Ago - 30 September 1913

As we search the "Chronicling America Newspaper archives" we found that a hundred years ago, 30 September 1913, Tuesday, in The Daily Ardmoreite, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, reported on their front page the following headline: "Clever Scheme To Ship Whiskey." It was nipped in the bud by a deputy marshal at the town of Miami, Oklahoma.

Reuter Murder Trial (1913)

As to the May 5, 1912 murder of Charles T. Reuter, the Tulsa World reported it has the big news in the young city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was reported as a trial that "titillated a young city, with trial rife with sex, betrayal and murder for hire."
