Have you ever had a chance to observe the eating habits of the wildlife (birds, ground squirrels & chipmunks) of Southwest Colorado and other areas?

100 Years Ago Today - 24 September 1912

One hundred years ago today there was "Fear of Moose Splits Parties In New York," as reported in The Washington Times, Tuesday evening, 24 September 1912. It was also reported that Root and O'Gorman demanded concessions as Sop to Progressive element. If Bosses win, Theodore Roosevelt will carry state. There was a faction at Saratoga that insisted that Republicans nominate Straus for Governor.

While we were researching the "History of Pendleton County, Virginia,"written by Oren Frederick Morton, we found mention of Frederick Keister II (1730-1815), who was the son of another Frederick Keister (1704-1787), my 6th great grandfather.

Have you ever heard of the Know-Nothing (American) party of the late 1840's and early 1850's that had a strong foothold in the 1850's? Who were they? How did they come about? And . . . Why? How does this "Know Nothing" party sound like a certain "Republican Tea party" of the 21st century?

1855 - Know-Nothing & Anti-Know Nothing Factions

It was reported in The Perrysburg Journal, Saturday, 27th of October 1855, in Perrysburg, Ohio, that, The Toledo Daily Times agitated for an investigation as to the legality of the wholesale naturalization practiced by Judge Hall at its last court. The Toledo Daily Times claimed that the result of a recent election was a "Know Nothing" triumph.

1912 - Zinc Miners Crush Colonel In Enthusiasm

In The Washington Times, dated 24 September 1912, we found the following article written by Theodore Tiller, by way of Chandler, Oklahoma, September 21, 1912, where "Zinc Miners Crush Colonel In Enthusiasm" as Colonel Roosevelt spoke at Joplin, Missouri before he headed towards Tulsa and the State Fair in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
