1934 - $350 Needed To Bury Pretty Boy Floyd

In The Morning News, Danville, Pennsylvania, dated 24 October 1934, Wednesday, the front page headlines read: "Family Lacks Funds To Bury Slain Gangster." The family needed $350 for funeral expenses of Public Enemy No. 1.

Sallisaw, Okla., Oct. 23 (1934) -- It was just an even bet here that Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd would be buried int he grave he chose in his old haunts.

The family of the slain gunman needed - and didn't have - $350 to bring the body from East Liverpool, O., where he was slain by Federal agents, and to bury it.

East Liverpool, O., Oct. 23 (1934) -- Federal authorities withdrew abruptly from the case against Adam Richetti, captured aid of the slain Oklahoma outlaw, "Pretty Boy" Floyd.

They did so with a strong implication of resentment against local authorities at Wellsville who refused to surrender the gangster to face a murder charge in Kansas City, in connection with the Union Station massacre.
