Alva, OK - I'm Late! I'm late! I'm late for a very important date! Thanks for your patience, understanding. I was distracted while cleaning, fine-tuning my genealogy database on Ancestry.com. I accidentally deleted the wrong ancestor, which left a bunch of ancestors unlinked from certain individuals. I believe I have that worked out and cleaned up. We all are curious from whom we descended; where, when and why our ancestors came to America, aren't we?

In the Salina, Kansas newspaper, The Salina Daily Union, dated 21 September 1912, Saturday, on page 4, we found this article concerning the republican split where the Bull Moose party was organizing under Teddy Roosevelt, "Scared Off the Ticket."

Lord Dunmore's War: Battle of Point Pleasant (1774)

What was the Battle of Point Pleasant (1774) and Lord Dunmore's War (1794) and what was it all about? How did these two wars relate to the American Revolution?

We know the Virginia settlers could claim this country (Kentucky) with the greatest justice and propriety. It was within the limits of their charter. The Virginians fought and bled for it. Had it not been for the memorable Battle, at the Great Kanaway those vast regions that had yet continued to be inaccessible in the late 18th century.

Walking With Sweet Silly Sadie

Alva, OK - I know my human has been a little distracted this last week, 'cause during my Doctor Vet annual wellness checkup, we found out this eleven year old Pug has the beginning of cataracts in both of my eyes. I Know some humans use seeing eye dogs to get around. I guess this "Sweet Silly Sadie" is going to use NW Okie as her seeing eye human.

This weeks OkieLegacy Ezine/Tabloid is a mixture of the Warwick family lineage of NW Okie, and how much she has compiled over the years. Plus other items from the 1912 Republican & Progressive Bull-Moose split and Pres. Teddy Roosevelt's campaign fora third term as President.

Let us look back over one hundred years ago (104 years) to see what they were reporting in The Tennessean newspaper out of Nashville, Tennessee, dated 17 Jul 1912, Wednesday, on page 11: "Roosevelt Will Go On Western Campaign." The Wataugans Historical Drama

The Wataugans depicts the early history of the area that is now Northeast Tennessee. Who were they? Where did they settle?

The early settlers along the Holston and Watauga Rivers in modern East Tennessee found themselves outside the jurisdiction North Carolina and Virginia. In 1772, they form a government of their own, the Watauga Association, described by such historians as the first free and independent government (by men of European descent) on the American continent.

The Warwick Brothers Emigrants of 18th Century

Family tradition states that the Warwick brothers, William and John, came to America from England. The date and place of their arrival were uncertain, but by the late 1730's they had settled in the lower Shenandoah Valley in the newly formed Augusta County, Virginia.
