NW Okie's Journey

Well! Plans for returning to Colorado got laid back a few days. It appears an unknown driver allegedly backing in or out of an alley neighbors lot did a hit and run on our gas meter the end of last week (Thursday evening). Yep! They allegedly backed into our gas meter that was out at the alley, breaking our side of the gas line leading into the house.

Walking With Sadie

Woof! Woof! It is the infamous Sweet Sadie Pug with you again this week. The snow has been melting fast around these southwest Colorado parts with the 50 degree, sunny weather we have been experiencing in our neck of the woods. Hope there is some for NW Okie when she arrives the latter half of this week.

One Hundred Years Ago, 9 February 1915

One hundred years ago today (9 February 1915) one of Topeka State Journal's front page headlines dealt with the weather: "March And May." Temperature and sunshine combine features for Kansas on that date. March temperature with May sunshine was the weather combination 9 March 1915.

Logan County Oklahoma & 1909 baseball

The postcard on the left shows the Logan County High School of Guthrie, Oklahoma. This is a 1908 Penny Postcard. The 1909 photo on the right shows my Grandfather, Bill McGill, and the 1909 baseball team at Guthrie, Oklahoma. It is also a 1909 Penny Postcard that McGill sent to his sweetheart, Constance Warwick in 1909.

Grace Wandell Services Slated (Printed in The Guthrie Leader circa Dec. 17, 1976) - Submitted by Renee Carroll-Sampson. Services for Mrs. Grace E. Wandell, 99, retired co-publisher of The Cimarron Valley Clipper, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Monday in the Coyle United Methodist Church. The Rev. Eakle P. Allen, Jr., will officiate, and internment will be in the Coyle Cemetery, directed by Davis Funeral Home.

Obit of Pearl Wandell Fransler

Submitted by Renee Carroll-Sampson - Pearl (Wandell) Fansler was the daughter of Timothy and Carrie Wandell ... Clarence F. Wandell's sister and James B. Cranmer was Grace E. (Cranmer) Wandell's father. Altogether we have 15 family members buried in the Coyle Cemetery.
