We have decided to do some more research through old newspaper archives to bring you the "Unsolved Mystery of Mildred Ann (Newlin) Reynolds death back on a Tuesday, 13 March 1956, sometime around 1 p.m., on a rural dirt road a couple of miles East of where Mildred and her husband, R. D. Reynolds, resided. Mr. Reynolds at the time was a basketball coach and principal at the Avard High School, in Northwest Oklahoma.

Unsolved Mystery, March 13, 1956, Avard, Oklahoma

It was in the Chicago Tribune dated Thursday, 15 March 1956, that we found this news article concerning the body of Mildred Ann Newline Reynolds' found in a flaming car wreck East of the small rural town of Avard, Oklahoma, on a dirt road. Was it a wreck or murder? It is still unsolved as of today, 31 August 2015, 59 years later.

1956 Unsolved Mystery On County Road Near Avard, Oklahoma

It was in The Kansas City Times, Kansas City, Missouri, dated 23 March 1956, that we found this article: "Death Is Puzzle." Coroner's Jury believed case of Mrs. Mildred Ann Reynolds was no accident. A further probe was called for. Flames in the car could have been result of incendiarism, was the verdict. assistant State Fire Marshal said blaze may have been helped.
