NW Okie's Journey

I am beginning my third week of post-mastectomy physical therapy for my right shoulder issues. Movement in right shoulder and arm are progressing slowly and moving forward. I have also checked in with a followup with my oncologist here in Durango, Colorado to keep on top of everything for the next five years of breast cancer remission and my Hormone therapy (estrogen inhibitor).

Walking With Sadie

Since last week, we have received over 17 inches of snow here at Vallecito Lake, north end of CR 500, Bayfield, Colorado. We have been reading about the cold, icy conditions that have been passing through Oklahoma and Missouri, also.

Margaret Mitchell: American Rebel

We should all know who Margaret Mitchell is by now. Especially for her one book (or novel), "Gone With the Wind," that she published in 1936, which sold millions of copies at the height of the Great Depression in America and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937. 100 Years Ago Today - 11 February 1914

One hundred years ago today, 11 February 1914, Wednesday, we might read in The Tulsa Daily World, about the "Earthquake Shakes the Entire East." New York, Pennsylvania and the entire New England was quivering on February 10, 1914, with only one person was killed and buildings damaged and people panic stricken, fleeing into the streets on that day, one hundred years ago.

50 years Ago: The Beatles (7-9 Feb. 1964)

Hey, Baby Boomers! Can you remember where and what you were doing 7th thru 9th of February 1964? If that date does not ring a bell, what about fifty years ago when the Beatles came to America and appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show?

This NW Okie would have been 15 going on 16 years of age. I was not one of the screaming females that followed the Beatles that much, but I do have a few favorite songs of theirs that I like to listen to today, though. What are your favorite songs?

1964 Civil Rights Act

Fifty years ago there was the 1964 Civil Rights Act that President Johnson pushed through Congress. It was the Nation's benchmark Civil Rights legislation and it continues to resonate in America. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Passage of the Act ended the application of Jim Crow laws.
