As Central parts of Oklahoma have been plagued with multiplex tornadoes the last few days, our lilacs have started opening up at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir (7500 ft elev.), North of Bayfield, Colorado.

One Hundred Years Ago - 3 June 1913

One hundred years ago today, June 3 (1913) we found on page 2, The Democratic Banner, "tThe Great Auto Race Is Won By The Frenchman, Jules Goux." Jules Goux captured the prize of $20,000 and everything else in sight. His victory was a popular one.

One hundred years ago, in Mr. Vernon, Ohio, The Democratic Banner, dated Tuesday, June 3, 1913, reported the front page headlines: "Verdict Speaks For Itself, He Says," as Colonel Roosevelt arrives at home from Marquetta.

1908 Woodward Tornado - At Least Eight Dead and Scores Injured

In The Salt Lake Tribune, dated 12 May 1908, page 1, we find the headlines: "At Least Eight Dead And Scores Injured," in a series of destructive tornadoes in northwestern Oklahoma, but details were lacking.

1895 Oct. 11 - Highland Recorder News

As we were searching through The Highland Recorder, Monterey, Highland County, Virginia, dated 11 October 1895, we found on page three the funeral services of Johnnie Hull at Vanderpool. I am not sure the relationship of Johnnie Hull to my Hull's of Vanderpool, but I need to check this out.

1906 Indian Territory Map of Constitutional Districts

In The daily Ardmoreite, dated Wednesday, 22 August 1906, on the front page, there was a map of Indian Territory constitutional districts. The election proclamation provided for the holding of the election on November 6, 1906.
